An Efficient Strategy for Chemoenzymatic Conversion of Corn Stover to Furfuryl Alcohol in Deep Eutectic Solvent ChCl:PEG10000−Water Medium

As a versatile and valuable intermediate, furfuryl alcohol (FOL) is widely utilized in manufacturing vitamin C, perfume, fruit acid, lubricant, lysine, plasticizer, dispersing agent, resin, fuel additive, biofuel. This study aimed at the establishment of cascade catalysis biomass to FOL via hybrid approach deep eutectic solvent medium. The corn stover (75 g/L) with solid acid AT-Sn-WLS (1.2 wt%) produced 110.5 mM FAL ChCl:PEG10000–water (20:80, wt/wt) system 170 °C for 30 min, then formed was biologically transformed into recombinant E. coli SF harboring aldehyde reductase pH 7.0 35 °C. established strategy could efficiently valorize FOL, productivity 0.41 g per xylan stover. Consequently, one combination chemocatalytic biocatalytic reactions leading one-pot catalytic process shown as an attractive valorization lignocellulose biobased chemicals.
